This week with the OMC Family:
OMCHS students are in their third week of school. They are participating in one college class and have already participated in other college and high school activities. Students participated in the College Transfer Fair and had access to meeting with College Counselors. Students that are participating in Art Classes attended an art exhibit this Wednesday hosted at the Performing Arts at OC. OMCHS had a special guest, Ms. Carrie Wolfe from the district office, who helped students learn about state and district ed-codes and bylaws that pertain to our burgeoning ASB.
Griffins worked on reading like college students, identifying and writing about the subject, occasion, audience, purpose, and tone of a non-fiction text. Students also started using a district-wide online grammar program, No Red Ink, which individualizes practice for students based on personal areas of growth. We look forward to seeing their growth in the upcoming weeks!
This week in AVID the Griffins continued to organize themselves through the binder and focused notes system. They also took advantage of the beautiful, new Oxnard College library study rooms to break into small groups and complete homework/studying for their college classes.
