Weekly Update September 21, 2018

What’s New in the OMC Family:

Our counselor, Mrs. Sand is excited to plan the VERY first field trip for the OMCHS Griffins! Students will be visiting and touring a local university to learn more about campus and student life, academic programs, and the resources available on campus. She is also working on creating a customized Griffins A-G Subject Requirements poster that will posted in our classrooms and on campus. We want to ensure our students become familiar with how these A-G requirements play a vital role in preparing students to apply for college. Go Griffins!

EnglishAs part of our unit on the impact of technology on communication, students read and annotated texts, wrote rhetorical précis, and created thematic memes!  Students are developing their critical thinking around the topic in preparation of our upcoming argument essay.

AVID: AVID students worked in small groups and with OC tutors to  support their success in Spanish, ASL, English, Math and Art classes.  Students also signed up for the Khan Academy as part of a long-term, systematic approach to preparing for university entrance and the PSAT/SAT.

ASBThe Associated Body came together this week to begin the process of creating school behavior expectations, dress code, and a student motto.  We also had ASB Presidential Speeches and our inaugural ASB President Vote!
