What’s New in the OMC Family

In English 89– Freshmen students have been working on their new unit, which emphasizes literary analysis through careful study of the graphic novel March and the surrounding context of the American Civil Rights Movement. Students will also be practicing critical thinking, collaboration, and communication skills through regular Socratic Seminar-style discussions.

In English 99- Sophomores are reading Orwell’s Animal Farm through the lens of allegory. They are analyzing the ways authors use language to comment on society through a system of symbols. They are also writing cause and effect papers and honing the skills needed in the writing process.

Red Ribbon Week is in full effect! Students signed the Red Ribbon pledge, committing to healthy, drug-free lifestyles. We also celebrated the week with themed dress-up days that all connected to the Red Ribbon message.
