Welcome back to school Griffin Families!
I hope everyone had a wonderful winter break! We are ready to jump right in to the new semester in Math!
Math 1 finished the semester strong, learning about solving systems of equations. The first unit of this semester will be learning about exponential functions and how they are used in the real world. Your students may come home with questions about interest rates involved with bank and credit accounts. Money is a big part of the world, and this will be their first introduction to the power of compound interest.
Math 2 ended with a mixed chapter covering graphing different types of functions, and increasing their knowledge in exponents. The new semester will bring a large unit on graphing and interpreting polynomial equations. This will build on a lot of the techniques they learned last year, so please encourage them to dig out last years’ notes for a reference tool.
In crochet club we finished the semester with an ornament project. The wreaths turned out wonderfully. Going in to this semester, we are going to look at how to read patterns, and the students will pick a pattern to work on.
I am looking forward to a great semester! Thank you again for all of your support, and for helping your students be successful!
